9 Things I Learned in 2015

What a great time to post a few things I’ve learned/remembered throughout probably the craziest and most fun year of my life. I got to travel to New York, Philly, Ft. Lauderdale, New Orleans, and a few other places. I experienced so many new things. I was super involved and super busy. I went on adventures. I met a guy. I could really keep going with this list…but let me stop.

In 2015, I learned so much and grew so much as a person. Here are the 9 things I wanted to highlight:
 1. Opportunities
2015 was the year of “yes!” I had a lot of opportunities come my way and I took advantage of most if not all of them. At times I felt overwhelmed but each of those opportunities led to new experiences, learning, and fun! I realized that sometimes I do have to use the word “no” sometimes and give myself a break. But remember that sometimes closing the door to one opportunity could lead to closing doors to an even better one.

2. Take care of your health

Since November I have been on and off sick…leaving me very drained most of the time. I really slacked on my regular gym schedule and eating habits because of it. During those months I had a loss of appetite so I wasn’t really eating which is not normal for me, haha! I realized that I was always on the go and put my health aside for so long that it resulted in being sick Nov-Jan. (which NOT fun!)

3. Leave relation/friendships that help you grow you as a person and be open to new relationships

This one is kind of a no-brainer and self-explanatory but I faced this a few times in 2015. Plus I swore that I would not seriously date until my mid to later 20s….and look at me now.

4. Manage your time by setting mini goals

Mini goals and planners are now my best friend and that’s coming from a spur of the moment and never planning type of girl. I realized that it’s needed in order to make the most of the free time I do have. Plus I feel less stressed even when I do have a ton on my plate.

5. Pick up new hobbies

It’s never too late to pick up a new hobby. I’ve always been interested in graphics, design, and the creative media process but last year I became more and more interested. I worked on branding techniques, design, and social media marketing. And actually my boyfriend surprised me with a nice camera for Christmas (totally unexpected!) so I get to dabble in photography again, yay!

2015 was definitely a year of traveling which needs to carry onto 2016. Travelling is truly a learning and growing process. But this time I’m going international; I’m going to Spain in May through my university and could not be more excited.

7. Never stop trying to become better

There are so many things to experience in life, why would you want to sit around and not achieve your potential? Something that always motivates me is asking myself, “is there any way I could do this better and how do I do it?” If the answer is no then great but more cases than not there are.

8. Never stop being there for the ones you love

2015 had ups and downs and friendships break and mend. My best friend’s father actually passed away this year and seeing/knowing the hurt honestly broke my heart..what I realized is that sometimes when you can’t be physically there, you just have to let them know that you are there for them always and let them grieve.

9. Enjoy family and the ones you love

This one is because with graduation fast approaching and job applying is currently happening. I’ve applied for jobs in North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, and why not places like New York and California. I’m really family oriented and love to be close to my friends but that may change soon so I want(ed) to take advantage of the time I do have.

Hopefully, 2016 is ready. 😉
